The Split

It’s so long that I’ve decided to put it up in two parts.

Enjoy!

Featured at the end of this is a Megaman themed exclusive TRACK from Kagutsuchi, our sort-of-resident mysterious tunesmith. You can check out more of his work here: http://www.myspace.com/kagutsuchiofficial.

His stuff is really cool, seriously, so give it a listen.

…SLIGHT delay

November 17th, 2008

Hello everyone,

Podcast Update

We did record the podcast - TWO HOURS WORTH.

I underestimated the kind of editing job this is going to need, so bear with me. I aim to have it up by Monday night instead of Monday morning, so it’s not so bad.

But it went pretty well, all things considered (ie factoring in that we’re a pair of mongy twerps).

I’m aiming to whittle things down to an hour, and put things up in two parts. So make sure you get both files from the feed!

We’ll also be featuring some rip-rollicking electronic-tinkery in the form of fantastic videogame themed music by Kagutsuchi, who you should check out, because his brand of anthemic, uplifting, trancey electropop deserves a place on the iPod of any self respecting music lover. Fact. So thanks to him for making our show just a shitload more awesome.

Hmmm

We’re still not sure how this podcast is going to be received. An off the cuff, dual presenter talk-radio style format is quite a departure from the heavily scripted commentary we used to do (although there is an element of that still). Personally I feel it’s a change for the better.

The new format was inspired by listening to my 3 current favourite podcasts - Adam and Joe, Xbox 360 Fancast and Australian Gamer. These shows are certainly planned, but not strictly or heavily scripted, which is part of their charm. The people on these shows feel familiar and down to earth. Regular guys, you might say, who broadcast the same kind of great conversation that most of us have with our mates in pubs, etc. It makes them feel familiar and pally. We want to capture that, and if people find us a tenth as entertaining as Adam and Joe, we’ve exceeded expectations!

I know that many of the people listening to our show will know the subject matter as well as, if not better than, myself and Richie. So while being informative is a goal, it is secondary to our desire to simply make an enjoyable, funny show.

Right now there are around 500 subscribers to our humble little podcast, which is a great number for us - ten times more than I ever expected - and, of course, you all came on board when this was called Jim’s Bag of Bollocks. I hope you all stick around for Gamewank. It’s a very different show in execution, but it shares the same spirit and ethos. Hopefully it’s better.

Do please get in touch with us and let us know what you think.

Thanks,

Jim (removing tongue from Kagutsuchi’s anus)

PS: Spotted a videogame featuring watermelons? Let us know. Seriously.

Gamewank - starting soon!

November 12th, 2008

The Bag of Bollocks re-launch/metamorphosis/ruining will be up for download on Monday morning (that’s the 17th of November).

We’ll be reviewing Fable 2 and Megaman 9, and chatting about… game stuff. We sincerely hope you enjoy the new format, otherwise we’ve utterly failed at life.

You might still be seeing the old Bollocks site graphics on this page. Please hit ‘refresh’ to see the new (slightly) revamped site in all its juvenile glory.

See you next week!

- Jim

PS: Here’s the last episode of the old show in the meantime.
